Quick and Easy Bread Rolls (Vegan)
I usually make these lovely bread rolls in the morning. This is because I am not impressed by the long list of ingredients in the bread sold by many supermarkets here in the UK.
I also am not sure why manufacturers feel the need to put milk and eggs in the bread… or not be able to tell you if it is suitable for vegans…. oh well I will just have to make it myself :0) …… so here is my easy to follow recipe (I will be investing in a bread-maker in the near future)
– 1 & 1/2 cups plain flour
– 1/2 cup whole-wheat flour
– 1 tablespoon baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 cup light oil ( can use light olive oil)
– 6-8 ounces non dairy milk ( I use rice milk )
1- stir together the flour, salt & baking powder.
2- pour in the oil and “cut in” with a pastry blender or two butter knives, until mixture is “pebbly” in texture.
3- gradually stir in the milk until the mixture pulls away from the side of the bowl and forms a ball.
4- roll out the dough and divide into small pieces (about 6-8) and roll into balls
5- place on a baking tray and flatten slightly
6- bake for about 10 -15 minutes at 220 c / 200 fan oven / 425 f / gas mark 7 until they are golden brown
